MADRID
The statue of the Bear and the Strawberry Tree standing on one side of Puerta del Sol is considered a symbol of Madrid. The city is full of great monuments, like the royal palace, the Plaza Mayor or the many statuettes, and for people interested in art, the museum Del Prado, Reina Sofia or Thyssen has some of the most fantastic collections of famous Spanish painters like Velazquez, Goya, Picasso or Miro.
ZARAGOZA
It is a famous pilgrimage church in Spain and contains the shrine of the Virgin Mary. Another must-visit site is the Caesaraugusta route where you can find monuments that were built during the Roman era. Most of the cathedrals have a lavish Baroque architecture with decorative motifs and ornamental geometric patterns. Catedral de Zaragoza, Aljafería Palace, and San Pablo Church are a few heritage sites in the city. Museums are filled with sculptures, 14th-century paintings, and contemporary artworks. The city also has a freshwater aquarium, parks, and nature reserves with hiking trails.
BARCELONA
Barcelona is the capital of Catalunya, a historical region of Spain and it is the second-most densely populated city in Spain, after Madrid. It is known for its exceptional soccer and the brilliant architecture of Antoni Gaudi. It’s also famous for its modern art museums, serene parks, golden shoreline, and tasty tapas. The city itself was founded by the Romans who set up a colony called Barcino at the end of the 1st century BC.
